Nutrition Counseling

Nutrition counseling at Jackson Wellness Center focuses on your specific nutritional needs and goals. You and your dietitian will work together to develop a plan to work toward your goal. Weight loss at the Wellness Center is more than just a diet; it is a lifestyle change that will help you feel better, increase energy, and improve mood, all while eating foods you love!

Nutrition counseling sessions are available by appointment only. Please contact the Wellness Center’s Dietitian, Amanda Fieder, MS, RD, LD, at 334.440.3330 or stop by the Member Concierge Desk to make an appointment.

Basic Nutrition Package

For those who are interested in creating a long-term lifestyle change, have tried diets in the past, or have a moderate amount of weight to lose.

Includes:

  • (1) 90 minute initial session

  • (1) 30 minute follow-up session

 

Follow-Up Nutrition Session Package
For those who have completed the Basic Nutrition Package or a single session and need additional guidance.
Includes:

  • (4) 30 minute follow-up sessions

 

Single Sessions
For those who have specific nutrition-related concerns.

  • 60 minute session

  • Cholesterol screening

Amanda Fieder, MS, RD, LD is a Montgomery native. Having completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics at The University of Alabama, she went on to receive her Masters in the same field at the University of Southern Mississippi. She has had a life-long interest in Dietetics and Medical Nutrition Therapy that started after being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) at the age of 8 years old. Since then, Amanda has had to be hyperaware of the nutritional content of many foods to ensure she remained in optimal health. She is motivated to use her knowledge of food to help others achieve their optimal level of health as well. Amanda also works as a Clinical Dietitian at Jackson Hospital where she provides Medical Nutrition Therapy to patients during admission. Amanda looks forward to serving you and your nutritional needs here at the Wellness Center soon!

Blood Pressure
Just a small amount of weight loss can help lower blood pressure numbers by 3-5 points! At this consult, you will also receive invaluable tips on how to reduce your sodium intake.

Cholesterol
With ever-changing nutrition recommendations, knowing which foods will increase your cholesterol can be tricky. Our dietitian will help you sort fact from fiction to help keep your levels in check.

Medical Nutrition Therapy
Pre-Diabetes/Diabetes
Let our dietitian help you understand the carbohydrate exchange system so you can seamlessly use it to control your blood sugar in everyday life.

A dietitian can also help with nutrition for other medical conditions such as cancer, congestive heart failure, COPD, heart disease, renal disease, hepatic disease, and more.

Your Nutrition Counseling may be HSA/FSA eligible. Please check with your provider for eligibility.
